October 27, 2003 Sacramento’s Executive Airport is showing signs of economic recovery. General aviation flights are reported up nearly 20% for this fiscal year. Grant to Fund Airport Upgrade – Tri-Valley Herald, CA
TRACY — The city will use a $450,000 federal grant to upgrade the Tracy Municipal Airport in order to bring it in line with new Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
The regulations require the city to repaint taxi markings on the runway, add new signs, new distance markers, and obstruction lighting, among other things.

California is earthquake country. The General Aviation fleet can provide the quickest mode of transportation following an earthquake. That was demonstrated after the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 and the Northridge earthquake in 1994. Volunteer pilots provided the first airlift emergency services. This included transportation of key personnel and emergency supplies.
