SM Airport sweetens incentives for carrier – Board approves $1 million in support package
The Santa Maria Public Airport is upping its ante in the game to land commercial passenger service to a Midwest hub.
The airport has enhanced its Airlines Support Program in hope of enticing a carrier to land here. A combination of rent, landing fee and fuel flowage waivers creates approximately $1 million in incentives to prospective airlines.

Livermore will begin negotiating a lease with Five Rivers Aviation, LLC, to serve as a full service fixed base operator (FBO) at the Livermore Airport.
The city council approved the negotiations by a unanimous vote (Laureen Turner absent). Councilmembers noted that negotiations did not mean a contract would be signed. Once negotiations are completed, the agreement will come back to the council for a public hearing.

A bill moving through the U.S. Congress to allow Bob Hope Airport to change its voluntary curfew to a mandatory one is supported by the airfield and the city of Burbank, but it could present a tricky situation for UPS and FedEx, which rely on early-morning arrivals.

The City of Torrance wants the FAA to REQUIRE helicopters at TOA to climb and descend through the fixed-wing traffic patterns for the south runway. TAA has obtained a draft of the FAA “analysis” attempting to show that it is “safe” to raise the minimum altitudes for the West PCH Arrival/Departure and the South East Arrival/Departure.

Controversy over service road key to judge’s ruling – For the second time, a Monterey judge has halted the Monterey Regional Airport’s $46 million runway extension project, largely because of a controversial proposed service road.
Judge Lydia Villarreal said the district had again failed to consider alternatives to the new roadway, the purpose of which was not initially disclosed. She indicated the district planned the road to obtain 144,000 cubic yards of dirt, enough to fill 11,866 dump trucks, to build an area to contain a larger-than-required crash pad to the south of the runway.
