The proposed Bankers Hill Townhomes building at 1st and Maple cannot go ahead at the height intruding into the AAOZ (Airport Approach Overlay Ordinance). After a discussion at City Council of about 1 1/2 hours, the council voted against by 5 to 4 vote. Letters from the CPA were cited by Councilwoman Donna Frye.
This is a very important because another building project will be coming before City Council this spring which intrudes about 60 feet into the AAOZ. Now that a precedent has been set for not violating the Municipal Ordinance involved, it will be difficult for that project to proceed.
I will probably be calling on you once again when the project at 222 Laurel is scheduled before City Council. In the meantime I am continuing to get geophysical references for you.
