Half Moon Bay – Lawsuit Filed Against Flawed Big Wave Project Plan Approval
The California Pilot Association’s Board members Carol Ford and Andy Wilson did an admirable job representing Calpilots in opposing the Big Wave Project near Half Moon Bay Airport. Nevertheless the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors ignored all opposing arguments and approved the project. That, however, is not the end of the story.

In a disappointing vote, the Big Wave Project was passed by San Mateo Cnty Board of Supervisors. Next step is a review the Coastal Commission. Since it appears that the City Supervisors are ignoring the inappropriate land usage next to the Half Moon Bay Airport. – perhaps the fact that it is in a Tsunami Zone will insure that someone makes the appropriate decision which is to vote this location down.

The California Pilots Association (CALPILOTS) recognizes the requirement to provide housing and employment for people with developmental disabilities. The issue with this proposal is the location of this large facility (directly across from the beginning of runway 30 at Half Moon Bay airport – see graphic), with one building of up to five stories in the proposed business park.
