A report on the current activities of the Little River Airport Advisory Committee cannot all be contained in this article. Suffice it say that our small, remote community has been divided by an ideological battle focused on Little River Airport. How did the airport become the center of the fight? Coast Flyers, the Fixed Base Operator at Little River, in their contract, have the right to provide jet fuel. This has been part of their business contract through three owners but never exercised. The current owners, John and Rachel Cost, requested a permit to install a tank, and also have a fuel truck available for Jet-A.

Stockton Airport- Surrounding Development Zoning Under Review

The second meeting on the Tidewater Development proposal, adjacent to the Stockton Airport, was remarkable. The Board of Supervisors started out discussing how to create a protection area around the airport. The Director of Community Development and Planning, Kerry Sullivan, discussed various methods to protect the airport, and the procedures with which to do it. The more I heard, the happier I became (often the value of airports is not understood by the Sponsor-City or County).

Sensationalism First- Facts Second in Reporting

Reporter Christiane Amanpour took a look at GA security on CNN’s Larry King Live last week, and the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) says the show was “irresponsible in its lack of balance.” NBAA President Ed Bolen wrote to the network, asking for an opportunity to present “a full picture of GA security.” No organization representing general aviation was included in the report, which looked at the security measures at GA airports.
