FAA officials served the city of Santa Monica with a cease-and-desist order challenging a municipal ordinance passed in November — and effective today — that bars jets with approach speeds of greater than 136 mph.

Burbank Officials Propose Nighttime Traffic Solution

The Los Angeles Times reports after an eight-year, $6 million study, the airport’s operator has proposed a solution: Ban all operations at Bob Hope (BUR) between 10pm and 6:59am, which would have the effect of shifting about 16 jet flights per night to Van Nuys Airport, already the busiest general aviation airport in the world. (Editor’s Note: Talk about a waste of $6 Million of Dollars on this solution. Someone ought to be very embarrassed).
