Blumenthal Blames FAA for Airport Control Tower Closures; Says they’re Unnecessary – HARTFORD, Conn. – A group of U.S. Senators is working to keep the airport control towers from closing due to a lack of funding under sequester cuts. (KCRA) —Two Sacramento airports will find out Monday whether their air traffic control towers will face closure and reduced service due to federal budget cuts.
Sacramento International Airport was listed by the FAA among more than 60 airports nationwide to lose overnight staffing of the tower.
Sacramento Executive Airport was named along with Stockton Municipal airport on the list to have their towers closed.
The FAA announced 238 airports that may have their towers closed.

After a somewhat lengthy delay, we have finally heard back from NOAA – Office of Marine Sanctuary.
As you may know, the California Pilots Association has written to NOAA – Office of Marine Sanctuary – regarding last year’s west coast airspace change, which the we believe was implemented without justification.

An important issue for flight safety has arisen at the REI airport in Redlands, CA. Dirt for a water project is being piled within the #1 (A) Zone which requires a 20:1 safety limit and is located south just off the centerline for runway 26. The height of the pile (last measured by GPS) a few weeks ago is 79 ft. above the landing zone for 26. Another 13 ft. is to be added under an excavation project for a water holding pond east of the runway. The distance from the runway is about 800-900 feet. Coordinates are W 117.5.100 and N 34.5.100
