Big Development’s Attack on Santa Monica Airport

SantaMonica Airport

SantaMonica AirportThe fact is the city’s plan to close Santa Monica Airport has always been about money – regardless of what the city has previously claimed.

Below is what happens when a multi-county political machine backed by Big Development, which stands to make hundreds of millions on high rise development on existing airport property, get together. Note all the references to the pseudo political organizations – which were all likely promised something in return for their endorsement.

If this doesn’t anger you and get you involved in this fight to save Santa Monica Airport from Big Development’s plan to line their pockets, then the politicians will win. What’s it going to be?

Info being sent out by Big Development, with undoubtedly the City’s endorseement –

2) Endorsements for “Yes on LC, No on D”

League of Women Voters of Santa Monica: “Measure ‘D’ for Deception, placed on the ballot by the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association, totally takes local control of airport away. No lease can be changed, leaded fuel cannot be banned, no flight schools closed, nothing can change without costly city wide election. Redefines “Voter Approval” to a higher standard while guaranteeing status quo.

“Measure LC prevents any commercial development of airport land without a vote while allowing usage for parks, open space and recreational usages if/when the airport is closed. Allows local control of airport activities to decrease noise and pollution, increase health and safety measures, and increase recreational and park usage as land becomes available.”
