FAA seeks help for annual GA survey

faaThe FAA is asking for help on the thirty-sixth annual General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey covering calendar year 2013. The annual survey serves as the only source of information on the GA fleet, the number of hours flown, and the ways people use GA aircraft.

The data will be used to determine funding for infrastructure and service needs, assess the impact of regulatory changes, and measure aviation safety. It also will be used to calculate fatal accident rates for GA and Part 135 aircraft.

Members will be selected to complete this year’s survey. Those chosen will receive a postcard invitation to participate in the survey soon. It can be completed online, or a survey form will be mailed along with a postage-paid envelope. The FAA wants those who receive a postcard to fill out the survey even if an aircraft wasn’t flown in 2013, it was sold, or the aircraft was damaged.

The GA Survey is being done by Pasadena, Calif.-based Tetra Tech, an independent research firm that conducts it for the FAA. The information gathered in the survey will only be used for statistical purposes and will not be published or released in any form that reveals any participants. For more questions, please contact Tetra Tech at 800/826-1797, or send them an email.
