John Wayne Airport Expansion Plan Approved
The Associated Press
SANTA ANA, Calif. Orange County supervisors have approved a $512 million expansion of John Wayne Airport that would require passenger fees. A county report says the project would be financed by a $4.50 departure fee, a $10 car rental fee, plus federal and airfield funds. The fees would help raise a portion of the $437 million needed for a third terminal, six new passenger gates and parking space.
County supervisors will vote on the financing plan Tuesday. Construction on the terminal could begin next year and be completed in about five years.
