NOTICE: 2012 California Pilots Association Annual Meeting

The California Pilots Association is holding our Annual Meeting on Saturday October 20th and Sunday the 21st. And……

Virgin_Atlanic_Spaceship_TwoThis year we have a big surprise for you. We are holding our annual meeting at the Mojave Airport, in Mojave California. Yes – THAT Mojave Airport! We have chosen this well-known airport as our meeting site due to its incredible history, unique aviation functions and businesses operating there.

Mojave Air and Space Port is currently home to more than 60 companies engaged in flight development to highly advance aerospace design, and flight test.

Just a few of the attractions at Mojave Airpor

  • The World’s Premiere Flight Test Facility – Flight Research, Inc. – A sister company to the National Test Pilot School
  • Scaled Composites, LLC , founded in 1982 has broad experience in air vehicle design, tooling and manufacturing, specialty composite structure design, analysis and fabrication, and developmental flight tests of air and space vehicles.
  • Aircraft Storage – Numerous large Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Lockheed, and Airbus aircraft owned by major airlines are stored on site. Some aircraft are scrapped while others are refurbished and returned to active service.
  • Plane Crazy Saturday (mostly antiques) is a monthly event hosted by the Mojave Transportation Museum and will fall on the 20th while we are there!

Meeting – We will begin the day holding a short (we promise) business meeting followed by our speakers, tours and the events.

Speakers Mojave, Edwards and El Mirage are synonymous with RPVs (drones) as all testing and development is done there. We’ll have an engineer from Northrup Grumman brief the topic of RPVs from the standpoint of “what the future holds for RPVs in Civil Aviation” and more!

Tours – We are currently negotiating tours with a few of the premier businesses on the airport. We are hopeful that we will be able to offer tours of some great facilities located there.

Glider Rides or an Add-on Rating? – Yes you read that correctly. CalPilots is trying to arrange for the option to take glider flights (previous sign-up and fee required).

Lunch – CalPilots will provide each meeting attendee a free box lunch and soft drink (note: requires previous web site registration)

Fuel (We are working to procure fuel discounts to meeting attendees) Jet A and 100LL are available – self-serve 100LL fuel is available at the pump immediately east of the old tower.

This year’s annual meeting promises to be a memorable, not to be missed aviation event. Don’t miss this opportunity to visit this world-renowned airport, and receive special ‘behind the scenes treatment’ to boot.
