Oakland Pilot Opposes ”no fly zone” During President’s Visits

As President Barack Obama will be in Oakland for a Democratic fundraiser, a 10-mile-radius “no fly zone” has been declared for the duration of his trip. Jim Gray, owner of Oakland Flyers, is upset that his flight school and plane rental service will be grounded during this time and is planning to bill the government for his lost revenue and inconvenience. “We came up with an invoice of $2,565,” Gray said. Editor’s Note: CALPILOTS Agrees. Why should aviation commerce be interrupted so a FUNDRAISER can be attended? Our politicians need to do better and consider all aspects of an “unofficial visit”.
