Oregon: Residential Airpark is no Security Threat Some 200 homeowners near one of the nation’s largest public-use airparks are mobilizing to defend the through-the-fence access they have enjoyed for 30 years. Local and state officials are siding with the residents of the Independence Airpark in Oregon, which may lose its FAA funding if through-the-fence operations continue. The FAA says safety and security are at stake, but the Oregon Department of Aviation disagrees. Statesman-Journal (Salem, Ore.)
Editor’s Note: While there may be some areas where there are legitimate issues, the FAA has over reacted with this new massive bureaucratic airport manual. Aviation needs to push back hard on this ill conceived attempt.
