Sacramento Airport takes off
The Sacramento (CA) Business Journal
Sacramento International Airport saw a 3.7 percent increase in passengers in 2007, which moved it up two slots on the Airports Council International, North America rankings. As the 40th-busiest airport, Sacramento International had 10.8 million passengers pass through in 2007, beating the Minetta San Jose International Airport by 90,000 passengers. Sacramento ranked 42nd in 2006. “In the turbulent commercial aviation market, we realize that passengers have a choice, especially when their location or destination is equidistant between Sacramento International Airport and the congested Bay Area airports,” said Hardy Acree, Sacramento County Airport System director, in a news release.
For the year ending June 30, Sacramento International saw a 0.2 percent decrease from the year ending June 30, 2007, with 10.6 million passengers. For the first six months of 2008, the airport was 3.2 percent off its 2007 numbers, with 5.3 million passengers.
