Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) will start to create a special area?hangars, tie downs, office space?for piston-powered general aviation aircraft at Van Nuys Airport. AOPA and local pilots, led by AOPA Airport Support Network volunteer Elliott Sanders (also Director -at-Large for CALPILOTS), have been working for years to create an area for light GA at the airport. In order to create a dedicated spot for GA, a non-aviation business, C&M Relocation Services, is being evicted. J.E.C. Enterprises, which is an aviation-related business, is also being evicted because its facility lies in the way of a planned taxiway. LAWA served the eviction notices earlier in December after an order from the FAA to keep airport property restricted to aviation use.
