Airport Authority Revises Decision Time Line
The North County (CA) Times

SAN DIEGO —- A revised time line for the work and decisions on a possible new regional airport is expected to highlight a San Diego County Regional Airport Authority meeting Monday morning. Over the last three years, the authority has narrowed its list of possible new airport sites from 32 to nine. Expansion of the existing airport known as Lindbergh Field is one of the possibilities.

The revised schedule for the remaining work was sought by the authority board in December. Authority Chairman Joe Craver said the session will set much of the work schedule for panel and its staff for the rest of the year.

Expected changes include a longer process for a complete analysis of a final airport concept and site alternatives.

Lindbergh is the busiest single-runway airport in the nation and is expected to be overcrowded in less than a decade. The authority must recommend a site to county voters for a ballot box decision in November 2006.

Monday’s meeting starts at 10 a.m. at the authority’s meeting room in the Wright Brothers Conference Room on the third floor of the airport Commuter Terminal at 3225 N. Harbor Drive.
