County To Rezone Little River Airport
The Mendocino (CA) Beacon

Last Thursday the county Planning Commission recommended approval, as stated in the staff report, to the Board of Supervisors of a request to rezone the airport planning areas of the Ocean Ridge and Little River airports. The county’s two-part request included a revision of the coastal zoning ordinance of the Mendocino County Code by adding text reflecting the establishment of an “Airport Zone Combining District” for the purpose of identifying parcels located in proximity to a public use airport.

Part two entailed rezoning for the purpose of implementing the Airport Comprehensive Land Use Plan through the Airport Zone Combining District to parcels lying within the Ocean Ridge and Little River airport planning areas.

The commission also approved with conditions a request by the Mendocino Land Trust and State Coastal Conservancy for a coastal development permit to allow for the development of recreational public access trails, a parking lot and access road, signage, benches and fencing on a coastal bluff known as Navarro Point.

Among the modifications was that the management sign in the parking lot include a trails map.

The location is south of Albion on the west side of Highway 1, just south of the intersection of Highway 1 and Navarro Ridge Road at 1350 Highway 1.
