Joint meeting to tackle airport issues
The Redlands (CA) Daily Facts
REDLANDS – A City Council special meeting with the Planning Commission and Airport Advisory Board is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4 in the council chambers at City Hall, 35 Cajon St. The meeting will be a workshop to discuss land-use planning and policy issues related to the Redlands Municipal Airport and surrounding areas.
The city recently received funding from the Federal Aviation Administration to update the airport master plan, which guides airport development.
A moratorium for residential development in proximity to the airport may be discussed to provide time to update the plan and its land use compatibility plan.
A pending 81-home development proposed by Walton Development on 42 acres on both sides of Judson Street south Pioneer Avenue is scheduled to be considered before the Planning Commission on Oct. 11.
The project raised questions about how close homes should be to the airport and whether new neighbors would complain about airport noise and operations.
