AOPA Works Sacramento to Change Airport Land-Use Law

AOPA, the California Department of Transportation, and the State Transportation Commission are working to identify a sponsor and gather support for a bill that would strengthen California’s airport land-use law. It would require every county in the state to have an airport land-use planning commission and a plan to protect the airports from encroachment and communities from incompatible uses that could cause trouble in the future. AOPA Vice President of Regional Affairs Greg Pecoraro and AOPA California Regional Representative John Pfeifer were in Sacramento last week to build momentum for the proposed bill.

Editor’s Note: AOPA has the experience and resources to drive an objective this important. We applaud their efforts and offer them CALPILOTS limited assistance as/if required.
