Chico – The city will be moving forward in its quest to find management for the Chico Municipal Airport.

CHICO – While it’s willing to do the work, the Chico Airport Commission has made little progress pinpointing why the airport loses money every year, and it might not be an easy answer.

The commission has struggled to understand the airport budget and various funds that make up the Chico Municipal Airport.

CHICO – One of the city of Chico’s biggest financial pits is the Municipal – Airport, and its governing body of appointed board members has been wrestling with the issue. The news got worse last week, when the Chico Airport Commission found other debts related to the airport were actually tucked into non-airport funds, including fire service, litigation and remediation costs.

The fire company at the Chico Municipal Airport is closed as of 8 a.m. today, Fire Chief James Beery announced Monday afternoon. The closure will not disrupt commercial flights, however, as a Federal Aviation Administration-certified fire officer will be assigned to the station, thus meeting FAA requirements.
