GUNS AND AMMO AT AIRPORTS/ LOOKING AT ONE DAY

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration says it detects guns and ammunition in carry-on bags every day at airports across the country.
Here’s a list of those detected on Tuesday:
2:08 a.m.Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Screeners detect a rifle bolt in carry-on bag.
6 a.m.Boston Logan International. Screeners detect two 12-gauge shotgun shells in carry-on bag.
6:30 a.m.Bluegrass Airport in Lexington, Ky. Screeners find one round of .38-caliber ammunition in carry-on.
7:15 a.m.Shreveport Regional Airport, Louisiana. Screeners detect one round of .22-short ammunition in passenger’s jacket pocket.
8:40 a.m.Jackson International Airport, Mississippi. Screeners detect 19 rounds of rifle ammunition in a carry-on.
9 a.m.Ontario International Airport, California. Screeners detect 10 rounds of .357-caliber ammunition in a carry-on.
9 a.m.Manchester Airport, New Hampshire. Screeners detect one round of .22-caliber ammunition in a carry-on.
9 a.m.Syracuse (N.Y.) Hancock International Airport. Screeners detect one round of .357-caliber ammunition in a carry-on.
10:10 a.m.Oakland International Airport, Cali. Screeners detect one round of unknown caliber ammunition in a checked bag.

1:49 p.m.San Jose International, California. A passenger did not declare his firearm barrel and 51 rounds of 9mm ammunition with airport authorities. Airlines mandate that passengers who want to bring guns on a plane must declare and stow them by locking them — unloaded — in a secure box in their checked baggage.
2:25 p.m.Sacramento International Airport, California. Screeners detect one round of .40-caliber ammunition in a carry-on.
2:40 p.m.Salt Lake City International Airport. Screeners detect 16 rounds of .300-caliber ammunition in carry-on.
3:15 p.m.Midway International Airport, Chicago. Screeners detect 18 rounds of .38-caliber ammunition in carry-on.
3:45 p.m.Midway International Airport, Chicago. Screeners detect nine rounds of .22-caliber ammunition in passenger’s jacket pocket.
4:30 p.m.Dallas Love Field Airport. Screeners detect an undeclared loaded .357-caliber, six-shot revolver in passenger’s checked baggage. Passenger told authorities he had “no knowledge” of the gun.
4:50 p.m.Sea-Tac Airport, Seattle. Screeners detect one round of 5.56mm ammunition in a carry-on.
5:45 p.m.MWA/Williamson County Regional Airport, Marion, Illinois. Screeners detect three 12-gauge shotgun shells in a carry-on.
