Cardenas Seeks to Rid Airport of Old Noisy Jets
The Los Angeles (CA) Times
Los Angeles City Councilman Tony Cardenas introduced a resolution Wednesday to phase out noisy airplanes at Van Nuys Airport that have been a source of complaints for more than 20 years. The resolution asks for the city to support grounding about 30 private planes, classified as Stage 2 jets, within seven years. The planes were built before 1983 and are noisier than more modern aircraft.
