Bear Valley Composite Squadron 6750 of the Civil Air Patrol hosts an open house and membership drive Saturday, April 16, 1 p.m., at the headquarters building.
Presentations by local squadron members outline Civil Air Patrol history and its present missions including emergency services, aerospace education and a cadet program. A tour of the headquarters building and an aircraft are also offered.
Known for aerial search and rescue, Civil Air Patrol also flies missions during natural disasters or emergencies requiring transportation of personnel and equipment.
Aircrews include a pilot, observers and scanners. Observers and scanners do not need a pilot’s license to participate.
Civil Air Patrol is a volunteer organization and is an auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Membership is open to men and women over age 21. The cadet program is available to boys and girls ages 12 to 20.
