OCEANSIDE — Oceanside announced Wednesday it will receive an approximately $236,000 grant to spruce up its airport.
The funds come from the Federal Aviation Administration, and will be used for designing improvements to the pavement of the airport apron — basically the loading and unloading area — designing 10,000 linear feet of perimeter fencing and installing two pedestrian access gates and emergency vehicle access gates. The city-owned airport sits on 43 acres in north Oceanside.
It is operated by Airport Property Ventures, LLC. The company represented the city in submitting the grant application.
Oceanside also received last year $141,000 from the FAA to update plans for the airport layout. The updated plans will be submitted to the FAA later this year, city officials said.
