If you plan on flying in or around the Phoenix area in early February, be sure you check Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) for information about temporary flight restrictions and special security provisions for Super Bowl XLIX that could affect your flight. The FAA recently released a Super Bowl flight advisory that provides an overview of the NOTAMs that will be in effect for the big game on Feb. 1, 2015, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. From 1525 until 2359 local time on Feb. 1, you can expect a 30-nautical-mile-radius TFR over Glendale, with an inner 10-nm GA no-fly zone.
TFR information is normally disseminated via FDC NOTAM three to five days prior to the event. Once published, text and graphic depictions of restrictions may be found on http://tfr.faa.gov/tfr2/list.html. It is recommended you check NOTAMs frequently during the event for any possible changes.
