Airport official express concern about encroaching development
The Redlands (CA) Daily Facts
REDLANDS – Redlands Municipal Airport users voiced concern Tuesday over development that, every year, gets closer to the airport. “The future of the airport is now in jeopardy through encroaching development into the airport influence area,” Airport Advisory Board Chairman Robert Pearce told the council.
As a result of greater cooperation between the board and the Community Development Department, the board will review all development projects in the influence area.
Staff has also been working on an evaluation of the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan in the general plan. The document will be ready for review at a joint meeting of the Airport Advisory Board and the Planning Commission.
The meeting is tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. April 13 at the airport.
Board member John James discussed the runway and taxiway reconstruction, which commenced this year, the spring fly-in May 7 and other ways the airport benefits the business community and citizens, as well as airport enthusiasts.
