The General Aviation Airport Coalition has initiated a petition on the White House website that, if signed by 25,000 people or more by May 16, 2012, will elicit an official response by the administration about how they determined that the proposed $100 fee for general aviation aircraft is fair.

California has been stealing money from aviation for years (reinvesting less than 2% of what it receives), it should be no surprise that the federal government is too. Time for us to stop it.

The Obama administration defended its fiscal 2013 budget proposal for a surcharge of $100 per flight, insisting to general aviation supporters in Congress that user fees would generate $10 billion over 10 years and spread costs “more equitably.”

UL 91 is an unleaded avgas already powering aircraft engines in Europe and may within weeks be approved for use in a range of Lycoming engines, but it’s unlikely you’ll see it at your airport soon.
