California Airports

This happens more often than people realize. The airport commission is supposed to do the appropriate thing for the community and the airport. Some politicians, however, tend to favor development regardless of potential noise and safety issues – for reasons unknown.

At 7:00 a.m. on October 27, 2011, Oxnard Airport opened with a new landing distance of 5,500 feet.  This new distance, an increase of 924 feet over the previous landing distance, is important for the airport because it maximizes the available runway pavement for landing, enhances safety and brings the airport into compliance with FAA standards, all while minimizing any negative impacts to the community surrounding the airport.

We have found through experience that it doesn’t take much to start an issue with an airport. Santa Monica it seems has taken this type activity to a new high. Unfortunately, the citizens of Santa Monica aren’t told the entire story.

Planners raise questions about Sonoma County airport expansion The proposed $84 million renovation of the Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport includes longer runways, a new control tower and new terminal.

After making a huge mistake by eliminating the AB48 exemption for all of the state’s flight schools and instructors, the legislator passed this corrective bill and the governor signed it. We appreciate their work to correct this mistake.

A series of events celebrating Cal Rodgers’ flight from Sheespshead Bay, N.Y., to Long Beach, California, will takeoff Saturday, Sept. 17 – the same day Rodgers began his transcontinental quest 100 years ago.
