In 2004 the California Pilots Association filed a lawsuit to keep a trucking terminal with above-ground fuel tanks from being built in the runway safety zone of Runway 13 of the Tulare Airport. Defendants are the City of Tulare and the Knight Transportation Corporation that has its headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona.

Public says Miramar is the answer to county’s airport needs

SAN DIEGO —- If not Lindbergh, make it Miramar. A group of 735 county residents has concluded that if downtown San Diego’s Lindbergh Field can’t serve the region’s long-term airline passenger and cargo needs, they’d support moving the troops out of Miramar Marine Corps Air Station and putting a new commercial airport at the storied military base.

Chino alters assembly rules for airport

CHINO – The city has changed its restrictions on how many people can assemble in buildings that are located beneath the overflight areas around Chino Airport.

There seems to be a great effort to improve airport safety this year ? safety in the terms of more clear zones around and at the ends of runways. The owner/operators of both Oceanside Airport (OKB)and of Montgomery Field (MYF) have plans that will bring these airports into compliance with the current standards in the FAA?s Advisory Circular for airport design standards (AC 150/5300-13). (This is available on the FAA website, but is a large file, more than 9 MB, and takes more than an hour to download if you have a dialup connection).
