Hesperia officials fear loss of influence while paying taxes to support operations at the airport

Palm Springs, Calif. – Riverside County officials trying to get rid of a rural airport on the eastern edge of the county are trying a new sale tactic — they’ve put it on eBay.

I wanted to report on our flight of May 4th to Santa Ynez. The primary reason of the trip was to attend a presentation of three scholarships by the Santa Ynez Airport Authority to some tremendously qualified high school students. The scholarships are for a full private license (from ground school to medical to check ride). Thus far, the authority has over $20,000 invested.

In an aviation historical first, California’s airport managers and airport users have joined forces to preserve and promote California’s 250 public airports. The airport managers, represented by the Association of California Airports, and the airport users represented by the California Pilots Association, have formed a joint political action committee.

The caller told Mike Schoenau, Tulare Municipal Airport manager, that he took his first plane ride at last year’s Tulare Airport Appreciation Day and would be returning for Saturday’s event.

PALM SPRINGS — People used to trudging from the far corners of the airport parking lot to pick up a visitor may have some relief in store– the spaces closest to the terminal could soon be reserved for people making quick trips.
