Here is a golden opportunity for California aircraft owners to participate in a project that will affect future taxation of their aircraft. The California Board of Equalization has initiated a complete rewrite of the Assessor’s Handbook Section 577 that controls tax assessment of general aviation aircraft. Copies of the revised draft are posted on the Board’s Web site at Interested parties may submit proposed revisions to the language presented in the draft until September 12, 2003 to Alan Dannen, e-mail, or by fax (916) 323-8765. Anyone who is unable to meet that submission date should promptly call about doing so at a later date. Any proposed revisions to the language presented in the draft should be submitted as alternative text and should reference the applicable page and line numbers of the draft. BOE Staff will meet with interested parties October 10, 2003 to discuss proposed changes to the text.

For questions regarding the project contact: Alan Dannen at (916) 322-4284, or Jim Anderson at (916) 323-5688. Taken from the Sept October 2003 Cal Pilot Newsletter
