The Tulare City Council has issued a permit for a truck terminal to be built in the airport runway approach zone. The Knight Trucking Company has been given approval by the city to build a trucking terminal 1300 feet from the end of Tulare Airport Runway 31. Airport supporters are very concerned about the safety hazard that would result. Lighting and concentrations of people are of concern. The greatest concern is for above ground fuel tanks that would be very close to the flight path. Airport supporters have asked California Pilots Association to take legal action against the project.
