CalPilots, the statewide pilot’s organization dedicated to protecting and preserving airports, is pleased to announce our support of the efforts of CAAPSO (Community and Airport Partnership for Safe Operations) and the pilots of Reid Hillview Airport to bring Unleaded Fuel to the airport.

This pro-active solution is here today and will preserve the continued operation of the airport under the FAA Grant Assurances and ensure the stability and long-term viability of the airport.  As a vital reliever airport, Reid Hillview’s continued operation must be viewed as a benefit to the community as a whole.

The investment being made by the airport businesses to bring Unleaded Fuel to the airport, store and deliver it, and operate their aircraft utilizing it is important to the well-being of the residents living near the airport.  This commitment should be applauded by the community for the airport businesses foresight and call to action.

In addition, each aircraft owner is personally making a financial commitment to have their aircraft recertified by the FAA to use Unleaded Fuel for the betterment of the surrounding community.

The commitment of the aviation community to bring Unleaded Fuel to the airport without the benefit of government assistance or even acknowledgment is a sign to those who seek to close this valuable aviation asset.  The airport businesses and users will not stand by while being threatened by some who fail to acknowledge the value of aviation to the community through employment, education and economic benefit.
