Blythe Airport Hazards

BLYTHE AIRPORT, USE CAUTION! Pilots flying into the airport at Blythe, California are cautioned to be aware of "a significant aviation hazard" when approaching Runway 26. 

A power plant one mile east of the airport is producing thermals that extend well above the normal approach glide slope. Pilots are cautioned to avoid low-altitude direct overflight. The plumes may or may not be visible depending on moisture in the air. A number of pilots flying twin engine aircraft have reported moderate to severe turbulence when flying through a plume.
