4 actions OK’d in newest Airport Business Park proposal

After hours of discussion Tuesday night the Santa Maria City Council passed four actions approving the newest proposal for the Airport Business Park. A fifth action authorizing the mayor to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the city and airport district was also approved. The first resolution certifying the final environmental impact report was approved on a 4-1 vote with Councilwoman Hilda Zacarias dissenting. A resolution amending the city’s General Plan to allow modified land uses on the 740-acre site passed 3-2 with Zacarias and Councilwoman Alice Patino dissenting. An ordinance repealing a previous specific plan and replacing it with the current plan passed on a 5-0 vote and an ordinance rezoning the 740 acres was approved 5-0.
