Palo Alto Airport Assoc Seeks Help for Airport Day

PAOAIRPORT DAY IS SEPTEMBER 29, AND WE NEED YOUR HELP! – Planning is well underway for AD13. The County will still be operating the airport but will not have the tenant appreciation dinner that kicked off the event in the past. Its level of support during the event has yet to be determined. As the city continues to work toward the takeover, AD13 is an ideal way to communicate to residents its value and importance.

Airport Day is a big job for the PAAA and we need the help of all the members. With less county involvement your association has more to do. We need people to help organize tower tours, provide assistance and direction to visitors, monitor guest behavior to ensure that they look but don’t touch the displays, direct participants to their booth locations and answer a range of questions. Set up involves roping off the active part of the airport, setting up signs directing traffic and other things. Many hands make light work and working together with your fellow pilots is rewarding.

It’s also important to be the face of our airport to the community. All of us volunteers at AD serve as ambassadors for the airport to the visitors. A few pleasant words, an interesting description of an airport feature, a clear direction in answer to the question “where is…” all are part of the impression we make. It is a source of pleasure to help others understand the passion we have for flying and how much the airport means to us and the community.
