STAUNCH AIRPORT SUPPORTER NAMED TO ADVISORY POST
A long-time defender of Zamperini Field in Torrance, California, has been appointed to the Torrance Airport Commission where he will advise the Torrance City Council on airport matters. Jim Gates was AOPA?s first Airport Support Network volunteer and won AOPA’s Laurence P. Sharples Perpetual Award in 1998 for his advocacy efforts. Gates has experience serving as president of the Torrance Airport Association among many other aviation-related activities.
