Palm Springs Air Museum to Celebrate 15 Years

On Saturday, November 12th, the Palm Springs Air Museum will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a thanks to all who have served our country.

The museum houses one of the nation’s largest collection of World War II flying aircraft and are displayed in modern, well lighted, air-conditioned and clean hangars. The museum officially opened on Veterans Day in 1996.

The cockpit of the museum’s Vietnam vintage F4 Phantom II will be open to the public for viewing with veteran pilots on hand to explain how it all works. The day will be filled with flight exhibitions, musical performances, birthday cake, WWII re-enactors and more! All US active duty and veteran military members get in free.

The Buddy Rodgers Theater shows daily documentaries about aviation in the military with an emphasis on World War II. In addition to planes and historic artifacts, the museum is host to a library of 8500 volumes primarily related to aviation and American military history. (Photo by Kim Stevens)

Complimenting the displays, the museum sponsors Saturday commemorative educational programs for our visitors and members. These Saturday programs often include demonstration flights of our aircraft. On those days, members and visitors can participate in the sights and sounds of World War II or later conflicts as these programs dictate. For more information go to: http://palmspringsairmuseum.org/
