By Andy Wilson |
To Whom It May Concern:
The Truckee Tahoe Airport District is a Special District under California Law, whose Board of Directors is directly elected by the voters. If the opposition is successful in electing 3 of the 5 Board members, they can do anything they want, even close the airport.

Napa airport getting facelift and expansion
By JAY GOETTING

Agua Dulce Airport
By Andy Wilson |
Our friends at Agua Dulce Airpark are under attack. A determined small group of 20 people (perhaps they didn?t know there was an airport there when they bought their houses) is doing everything they can to shut it down. Their efforts include complaints to every known federal and state agency alleging health and safety problems and violations of various codes and laws. They have been accused of breeding mosquitoes, exterminating ?endangered species,? etc. It costs the County about $800 each time one of these law enforcement agencies comes out to investigate what seem to be baseless complaints.

Plan to build school near airport stirs controversy
By Charles Levin
The Ventura County (CA) Star
When Charles McLaughlin opened Aspen Helicopters at the Oxnard Airport 20 years ago, he never sweated takeoffs or landings. Vast swaths of farmland south of the aviation facility gave McLaughlin ample room to swoop in and land a helicopter without worrying about homes or schools below.

Trona Airport (L72) News
By Andy Wilson |
Hi everyone,
As most of you know by now, Harold Miller is the new caretaker at L72. Harold can be reached at (760) 372-4886, or by e-mail at [email protected].
Since arriving, Harold has had his hands full: trouble with the water system, and other maintenance related stuff. He’s worked hard, and gotten it going again, with help from Onace Long, myself, and some of the good folks in Trona. It’s sure good to have someone there who takes an interest, and gets stuff done! Stop by to say hello, or for a cuppa coffee or some sun tea! Harold recently completed the modifications to his C-150/150, and it was test flown last Saturday. It flies real nice! Quick, too!

County frittered away airport funds
The Vacaville (CA) Reporter
Reporter Editor:
Indeed, having projects at the Nut Tree Airport being put off “for years” (“Plan to expand Nut Tree Airport shelved,” The Reporter, Aug. 23) is quite disturbing to the tenants who exist today and who have needs today. The “diamond in the rough” appears opaque for the forseeable future. Looking into the future, one wonders if this is part of a plan to perhaps do something with county property other than aviation.
